If you've ever really looked at your tires, you have probably noticed that there are lots of numbers and letters on the sides. While some are fairly clear in meaning, many are cryptic in nature.

The first letter in the main group means the type of vehicle, as in "P" for "Passenger" and "LT" for "Light Truck". The following numbers are the width, aspect ratio, tire construction symbol, diameter, then finally the load and speed. The other numerical information on the lower part of the tire has to do with the inflation pressure and maximum load ratings.

These numbers and letters can be confusing and hard to remember. If you would like further information on these tire symbols, come in to our service center here at Hoffman Lincoln in East Hartford, and we will gladly explain more. We can also provide any other automotive related information or services you may need.
